We're Cruising Oz

Chrissy and Steve, travelling evangelist hippies, are an ‘untameable’ married couple who responded to Jesus' call to "GO - tell 'em I love 'em" by selling what we owned - except our 1985 LiteAce van affectionately known as Buzz - and hitting the road in February 2009.

We basically cruise this country helping individuals, communities and churches in whatever ways we’re able to tap into the love of God. We do this through helping, giving, clothing, feeding, cleaning, serving, encouraging, imparting, preaching, running seminars and anything else we can think of to creatively demonstrate God's love. We don’t see this so much as a ‘mission from God’ but more a natural expression of who we are!

God loves His kids and chose us to go and show ‘em – it’s that simple.

on a mission

there are definitely times when it is very difficult to minister 'out there' on your own.
we have experienced times of discouragement, but they have been fleeting and we know where they come from!  we know (are convinced) we are on a mission from God.  we are geered for it, charged for it, anointed for it and keen as mustard for it.
sometimes our heads are in a spin with all we feel needs doing out here on the streets of Australia.  i am particularly 'caught up' in a good sense (not panic or stress) but certainly seeking answers/solutions/action with those left homeless on the streets. man, my heart just breaks.  we long to be able to help them 'one precious life at a time'.  we know we're  called to do something - but wot!? ... and is it enough?!
meantime, while we're in the 'city' we're doing what we're called to do.  we generously give money if asked, we shake their hand, we ask their name and treat them with the dignity they deserve as children of the Most High God, we offer my list of places to eat, sleep, get help with employment etc i sought out, and then sit on the ground beside 'em and pray.  if we had a house - i swear they'd all be in it!  we cant help it.  we fall in love.
i guess that's how we know we're CALLED to what we are doing.  cos we're doing it with HEARTFELT INTENSE PASSION.
we praise God for the ops we've had where He has graciously planted us in exactly the right spot at the right time.  one such time was with a 27 y/o bike rider who spent three hours with us pouring his entire life and all the dilemmas and dramas and mess of it to us. later he rode away refreshed (we're believing 'a changed man') we prayed with him.  we hugged him. and we prophesied the TRUTH about him, over him.  that was flipn awesome!  another incident was with a 40ish man..  Steve cooked a yummy dinner and we chatted til midnight. we prayed with him, encouraged him, hugging in the street.
stuff like that makes our mission worthwhile.  i know we are just a link in the chain, a piece in the jigsaw - and it all fits together in God's time and makes ETERNAL difference.
we have been blessed on our journey so far, with pooling with other like-minded people to help in certain places and ways - as in scrubbing the grafitti from the walls of the richmond victoria housing estate this month with another 400 volunteers.. and volunteering at the crisis releif centre in healesville after the massive Black Saturday fires in Feb...  and it is also the simple, one-on-one random strangers who pour their hearts out to us, who allow us to reach out with the hand of Christ and offer His complete, healing love, grace and forgiveness that reminds us of the passion of Christ for His precious people.  it is the times we can annonymously do random acts of kindness for other strangers we may never meet - like leaving fireplaces at campsites ready for someone else's comfort and convenience or picking up the rubbish in each town we visit (we are travelling with a philosophy to leave every place better than how we found it) that leave our hearts beating with the pulse of purpose!
i once saw a headline in a small-town paper that read "Phantom givers spread the Word" - man, i punched it into my mobile to remind myself how simple it is to simply share the love of Jesus with others by our actions that may never be seen by anyone but our Father - woohoo!!
believing for fruit - knowing salvation salvation salvation is the answer
